Invisalign Q & A

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign works just like braces, gradually shifting your teeth from their current position into alignment to give you a straight, stunning smile. But instead of using uncomfortable and highly visible metal wires and brackets, Invisalign gently moves your teeth using clear plastic aligners.

These aligners fit over your teeth and are designed to be as inconspicuous as possible. You’ll use multiple different aligners over the course of your Invisalign treatment, each one moving your teeth closer to their desired position until you’re left with your dream smile.

What should I expect with Invisalign treatment?

If you’re interested in using clear aligners to transform your smile, the first step is to meet with Dr. Ashitey and his team. He’s available to talk with you about your smile goals so you can decide together if Invisalign is the right option for you.

If it is, he takes a scan of your teeth (no messy molds needed). Using that scan, he creates a treatment plan tailored to your teeth and your unique smile goals.

Next, your aligners are created. They’re customized to fit perfectly over your teeth and are individually trimmed to align with your gumline so you can comfortably wear them all day.

How do I eat and drink with Invisalign?

Invisalign aligners are designed to work with your daily life and all your favorite activities. You can easily remove them whenever you want to eat or drink. Brush your teeth before you put your aligners back in.

For the best results, Dr. Ashitey recommends wearing your aligners between 20-22 hours a day. That leaves you plenty of time to enjoy your favorite foods and drinks without any pesky brackets and wires that could catch food and make eating a hassle.

What’s more, because you can simply take your aligners out, it’s easy to take care of your teeth while you have them. Traditional braces make flossing a major chore and require extra care when brushing to get under and around the brackets. With Invisalign, you can take care of your teeth the same way you always have — easily and comfortably.
